Admissions Policy for 2019/20 – Stakeholder consultation

4 December 2017 (by admin)

Academisation on 1st January 2018

Friday 1st December, 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

Admissions Policy for 2019/20 – Stakeholder consultation

As we move closer to academisation on 1st January 2018, we are reviewing our Admissions Policy along with other schools in the Multi Academy Trust (MAT). One of the benefits of being part the the HfL MAT is that we have some flexibility in these matters, which were not previously open to us.

We are consulting with all stakeholders on a change in our admissions policy for entry into the school from September 2019. Although 2019 may seem a long way off we have to complete the consultation by 26 January 2018. The proposal is to include the children of staff who work at the school as one of our oversubscription criteria. The policy will remain the same as our current policy in all other respects.

There are currently significant difficulties for all schools in recruiting and retaining good teachers and other staff in schools. By including this new provision in our admissions criteria we hope to encourage more applications for vacancies at Rowans School and retain staff who are also parents.

Our full proposed admission policy for 2019/20 may be found on our website under ‘School Information’ and then ‘Policies’ at http://www.rowans.herts.sch.uk/school-information/policies-1 alongside our current policy.

Your views may be expressed by emailing admissions@hflmat.co.uk or in writing via the school office.

It is important that we hear from as many stakeholders as possible and I encourage you to respond whether you agree or disagree with our proposal. Once the consultation responses have been considered we will publish our final policy for 2019/20 in March.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs J Reed
